With Isabelle Chaplot, MultiMediaArt is welcoming a new programme director who brings a wealth of experience from the film and creative industries, as well as from research and teaching. She succeeds Till Fuhrmeister, who has led the programme for the past seven years and has, in particular, played a key role in significantly enhancing its international profile. In future, he intends to focus more heavily on leading the Film Department.

Isabelle Chaplot was born in northern Germany and studied film and television, specialising in directing, as well as European Film and Media Studies in Weimar, Lyon and Utrecht.
Following various roles in the film and creative industries, including in film funding and international film production, she spent eight years engaged in research and teaching at the European University and Flensburg University of Applied Sciences. There, she completed her PhD on the filmography of Pier Paolo Pasolini and established the ‘Film & Media Arts’ bachelor’s degree programme, Schleswig-Holstein’s first independent film studies programme. Most recently, she held a visiting professorship in Multimedia Producing at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences.

Isabelle Chaplot
Head of the MultiMediaArt degree programme
I am interested in how creative quality, technological innovation and social issues interact. At MultiMediaArt, I aim to strengthen interdisciplinary exchange and create space for diverse perspectives and narrative approaches. It is particularly important to me to give a voice to perspectives that have so far been under-represented in the media and the design sector. Artistic excellence, a sound academic foundation, cultural diversity and international networking are key prerequisites for this.
